I feel embarrassed and ashamed to work at my job

I just don’t really know how to take this situation. My coworker got very very sick about a year ago and ended up having to get her leg amputated for it. Obviously she has not been at work because she was recovering for a while and learning how to get around with just one leg. I just don’t really know how to take this situation. My coworker got very very sick about a year ago and ended up having to get her leg amputated for it. Obviously she has not been at work because she was recovering for a while and learning how to get around with just one leg.

She finally get cleared to come back to work by her doctor but before she returned to work fully she was pulled into the manager’s office on her day off. I am not too sure if this is true or just word of mouth, but she was not allowed to bring any family into the office with her. They were made to wait outside while they discussed inside. She was told that she was being let go because due to her only being allowed to work 2 hour days, they don’t have a positon for her.

When I heard about this I was floored because there are so many positions they could have put her in so she does not have to be on her feet at all and to be honest i feel they just find her as a liability. This isn’t someone who has only been with the company for months, she has been there for upward of 15 YEARS. I knew companies didn’t care about us but this is honestly a new low and every day that I work I reconsider being there at all. What a sad sad dystopian world we live in.
