I’m a singer and I perform at restaurants and stuff. I have a tip jar as does every other performer. Yet when I come home and empty my tip jar and count the tips I got, I feel so ashamed. I feel like I robbed these people of their money. I don’t deserve this, I didn’t work for it. I feel like a beggar and I guilt tripped these people into tipping me by having my jar out.
Other performers tell me to write “tips” on my jar, or put lights on it to bring attention to it and get more tips and I completely understand where their coming from, there was a time where I was in a legal battle with an agency and during this time they refused to pay me and the tips I got every night helped keep me afloat. Yet it still feel so guilty. I don’t know why.
