I give up on this job search, b.s…. (RANT)

… too much damn work and time to keep re-writing my fuckin' resume to put in “hot key words” for a God damn ATS to reject my shit anyway. Too many bullshit cover letters “required” to answer stupid questions like “why should we hire you, what makes you the best candidate??”. Hundreds of applications sent to get ghosted or rejected. Then I read an article from the WSJ stating majority of job postings are FAKE because it's “advertisement” to make it look like the company is “growing”. Now you have this new bullshit advice about “nEtWoRkInG” which really means, you have to KNOW SOMEONE that works for the damn company to get hired. How many barriers does it take to get a job? Keep customizing your resume. Put in the God damn “key words” because it's you against a fuckin' machine. *Keep revising that fuckin' resume to look like the…

  • Keep customizing your resume.
  • Put in the God damn “key words” because it's you against a fuckin' machine.
*Keep revising that fuckin' resume to look like the perfect candidate.
  • but wait, you have to “network”.
  • but wait, also re-input info that's on your fuckin' resume.
  • but wait, also answer these stupid questions.
  • oh wait, also make sure your LinkedIn is up to date.
*and have as many connections as possible to look like you know a shit ton of people that don't even fuckin' know you and vice versa because numbers look good.
  • But also, have 10 years experience minimum in said job.
  • Also, need a degree or certificate that cost money and doesn't guarantee a job.
  • Oh, also no gaps in your resume. You better input that you were studying something in that time you were applying for hundreds of jobs you need 10 years of experience for.
  • But also, don't ask about salary because it's rude and only shows you want the job for money and not for passion. Passion pays the bills.

It's all a bunch of bullshit. I miss the days when soft skills were transferable and applying for a job was enough to show you were actually interested. And when humans read resumes. And when recruiting wasn't a bullshit sales job. And when you had 1 general resume to use to apply for jobs in that said field. And when companies were willing to train instead of expecting a unicorn that farts rainbows.

We went from “nO oNe wAnTs tO wOrK” to “SiLeNt QuIttInG” to “nOt eNoUgH qUaLifIeD” candidates because they need to “HiT tHe gRoUnD rUnnInG” because we're too damn lazy to train.
