It wasn't because of me. Or I should say it wasn't just because of me. They were new, and they clearly weren't upholding the values of the rest of the HR department, which while they are making some bizarre and upsetting choices (I'm on my union exec so I know about a lot of the shenanigans going on behind the scenes), and the VP of HR is a nightmare to work with, the HR Director and all the staff in the office are trying their hardest to promote an environment that helps employees flourish and feel valued and supported, and they recognized that the new HR rep was not reflecting those values.
I supposed I should feel vindicated on some level, and there may be a touch of it in there, but mostly I'm grateful that I won't have to worry about what HR is becoming.
Also, remember that if you have a union, use them. Know your collective agreement, know your rights.
Solidarity, my friends.
