I hate how easily I get sucked into believing corporate bs

Got hired at a phone store on the promise of running my own store and such. I was put under a manager as a sales lead to see how well I can handle a sales team. Got hired at a phone store on the promise of running my own store and such. I was put under a manager as a sales lead to see how well I can handle a sales team. I bought into all the corporate bs about being a team and looking out for each other.

Two giant red flags reared their ugly head and now I'm so disillusioned. The first was when they started penalizing you for sitting down when store traffic was slow and no customers were in the store. I got written up myself for refusing to write up someone on my team for needing to sit down for a bit.

The next and biggest red flag to me was when I talked to the area manager that hired me and was PISSED that I discussed pay with my team. I was shocked and informed him that in context an employee had another job offer for a position similar to mine and asked what I got paid because presumably he'd get that if he ever got promoted. My boss boiled it down to that he expected me to be a “better” manager and not be so honest with my team about pay. He said pay like 10 times in his 3 minute rant.

It left such a sour taste in my mouth and since then have been talking to other companies. I only took the job because that area manager promised a lot and sold me on the company
