As the title states, I have been working in the same company as an IT Helpdesk analyst over four years and denied promotions repeatedly. The job title makes no sense as I am responsible for IT management and support for 3 countries. What pisses me off is even though I have the relevant experience and certifications, I keep on getting denied or given a bullshit reason. I have good relations with all the employees in the company – from senior management, country directors down to junior roles. You can skip the below paragraph as it list the timeline of when I asked promotions.
In Jan 2021 I almost had a promotion to an IT security role . Everything was set , contracts in place , approval from HR but in the fucking last minute the position was put on due to firing the CIO. New CIO joined in Feb 2021 , discussed with him and he’s like he just joined the company and needs some time . October 2021 he says discuss with IT security head and the IT security head gives his approval & green signal. 3 weeks after the IT Manger who handles 3 African country is fired and the CIO requested me to take over 2 countries.
As I am handling the IT operations and support for 3 countries I asked to be given the position IT manager. Again , after 3 promises I am yet in the same role.
Today morning the entire company gets an internal announcement that Mr XYZ is prompted to the IT security role I wanted! I am so furious and frustrated. I feel extremely undervalued.
Anti-work , I need your advice. If I apply for an IT manager role or IT security role what to answer if asked how I am stuck in the same role for over 4 years. I was asked this question twice from recruiters and I don’t have a clear answer . What’s the best possible reply to this question.
