I don't understand why anyone would want to work in a kitchen of all places, especially if they are in a larger town where there's more opportunities.
Firstly, I have never experienced so much gossiping and politics in kitchen jobs as I have in any other unskilled profession, even in construction the people are more mature and cordial than in kitchen hand jobs. Actually, even in middle school, the kids were more mature than most of my kitchen hand coworkers.
Secondly, just getting kitchen jobs is absurd compared to other unskilled labor. With any other unskilled job, as long as you have experience and apply to the job, its first come first serve, this is unlike kitchen work, where you can have all the experience, and the ad still remains online. They will just 'call you later'.
Finally, what the hell is on with the hours, these jobs will clock you on and off depending on if there's orders. They will give you your schedule a day before starting. You are lucky to get even small hours, that too at odd times, and all the coworkers are fighting for each others hours like the dump this industry is.
I rather work construction. Goodbye kitchen hand.
