Before anything, be aware that I am overreacting. The company is small to medium size, but they probably receive a lot of CVs all the time. I am writing this because I felt very undermined with their response, and I think this is a good place to share.
I was looking for places offering work and I was taking notes of the companies where I would like to work. Some of them have application forms, some have just a recruiting email…
This company didn't have anything like that. The only contact info they had on their website was for their “stalker,” who is a woman who apparently talks to clients. Every piece of information indicated that she wasn't responsible for hiring but rather for prospecting clients. Since that was the only contact information I had, I sent her an email. I asked where I should apply or to which email I could send my CV for consideration. I didn't attach my CV because I didn't think she was the appropriate person to do so.
A week later, she replied. The email was very polite and nice. She said they weren't hiring at the moment, so they couldn't process my application. But it also had this:
But hey, we're keeping your resume in our back pocket for possible future opportunities!
Since I hadn't sent anything, I knew she hadn't even read my one line email. I could be talking to a fucking AI as far as I knew.
Again, I am sorry, I know it is an overreaction to be upset about something so small… but I really hate this unsocial and dehumanizing aspect of work. It is so frustrating.
