So for context, I work at a retirement community in California. A couple months ago I switched from the swing shift to graveyard, but overall I've been working there for a couple moths shy of 2 years. It's work for sure, and it has its downsides, but I like being able to help people.
For over a year now, there have been thefts around the building, residents loosing money (anywhere from a few dollars to almost $2,000). But last, there was another theft that happened “on my shift”, or at least that's what management says. There are only two people in the building at night, so it was just me and my coworker. We get a long really well, she's really active in the community, and I would never think that'd she would do something so petty and selfish. She's also pretty livid that management is trying to accuse us of taking a residents money.
According to the executive director, corporate wants to fire both of us, there's a strong possibility that we'll get suspended, the police are gonna be involved. I don't know what to do. It's really frustrating and I'm supper anxious about it.
Also it's kinda weird because management says they've “narrowed it down” to an hour after everyone left and it was just me and her, and to an hour before anyone else comes in, so that doesn't quite make sense. My running theory is that whoever “verified” that money was mossing in the morning did it, but obviously I have no proof. I barely remember anything from that night tho.
I really don't want to loose my job, it's the longest I've ever worked anywhere, and I feel like it's a good looking tittle on a resume if I want to do other people centric/social worker type jobs in the future. I just don't know.
