I need help using FMLA and PFL

(California) My wife had our baby in June and will be going back to work in November, (the 7th to be exact). So I will be taking my leave beginning on the 7th and for the full 12 weeks. BUT, now, I’m scheduled to have (minor) surgery on Nov 10 and will be off for 2 weeks after the surgery for that. So, my issue is, do I use FMLA from the 7th until the 2 weeks after my surgery, or just go on PFL for the full 12 weeks and don’t do anything for my surgery (aka, apply for disability?) ALSO, since my wife has used all her FMLA time for baby bonding, is there a way for her to stay home with me for my 2 weeks post-op? We live in California and both our employers have more than 50 employees and we have both been at our jobs more than a year, if that info is needed.

We just want to be off for as long as possible and make sure our jobs are protected. Any assistance of guidance is appreciated!
