I quit a job after the first day, and I just need to rant about it

Marking NSFW just in case, since it is kinda gross. I've been looking for a job for a while now, since my college plans fell through. I finally heard back from a nice hotel for their house keeping opening. My first day, they put me with a nice older lady who has been there for a while now. So we had to just simply “tidy up” some rooms towards the end of the shift, simple right? One of the rooms, occupied by two men, had piles upon piles of food (both fresh and rotting) and just had stuff ALL OVER the floor. We can't touch their stuff, so we can't throw anything away. I'm talking, bags of food on the floor, laundry all over the end tables, even, what seemed like Cilantro, on the floor too. So I power through it and get done. The last room we had to…

The last room we had to do…again, piles upon piles (way worse than the other room) of food (mostly snacks and fast food), both fresh and rotting. They even had a bag of potatoes that were starting to sprout…then the smell of PISS hits me. I ask the woman why, and she said, “oh he's been pissing in his bed every day since he's been here” ….fucking what?! And then I look at the beds. There were spots of blood on the comforter, sheets, mattress padding, AND pillows. On BOTH beds. So my first thought was, “okay gross, but it's probably a young girl who got her period overnight and didn't realize it” or something right?

No. The lady tells me there are only 2 men occupying the room, and they are contracted with a company to work in this area. At this point I decided I was physically and mentally done with the job. I was making up beds all morning, my back was intensely killing me, and I was getting dehydrated because I didn't feel comfortable spending $3 for a bottle of water.

I put on gloves, but they were almost out, so there was only enough for one person. The woman went to the bathroom and said that the floor was covered in piss. I didn't personally look at it, as I was on bed duty, but it was enough to create a heavy stench.

But I power through, I remove the bloody linen and replaced them, but after we got done, the manager said that they can't keep throwing out that much linen just from one room, so we had to undo the beds and put the bloody linen back on it.

For $9 a fucking hour, I shouldn't be exposing myself to random blood. I was expecting the occasional puke, or even pee in beds from children or drunk guests. Not. Blood. That blood could have anything under the moon in it. Not only the possibility of contracting any diseases, but that couldve come from a staph infection or anything else. And the manager, and staff, were both making remarks that this will turn into a daily fiasco. “First it was pee every day, now blood too?” And also mentioned that they had convinced the guy to try out adult diapers, but when the woman went into the bathroom, she said the box of diapers were unopened.

I dont even care if they bitch and say “oh she just doesn't want to work, no one does!” because that's just become a saying for when they can't admit that their place sucks to work at.

When rooms get to that extent, I feel like that's management's fault. The occupants should've been kicked out after the first couple warnings, and charge their company for damages. But they are so adamant on the guest's experience being the absolute top priority, so these house keepers have to experience those two rooms of hell every. single. day. At least for the past couple months that they have been staying there.

Anyway, rant over. I already have another job interview lined up this week, and my family and friends all have agreed that I shouldn't go back and that it was unacceptable, especially for the pay, so I don't feel guilty for bailing out of a job after just one day.
