i silently got fired lol

i (used to) work for 5 Star B&B. —shout out to all the admin (except doug, he’s a g) there’s a policy that after 3 callouts in a quarter, we get dropped as a contractor.. unless you get them covered by another, then it won’t count against you. unexcused 1: i don’t even remember what it was for. whatever. unexcused 2: i’m assuming was when my aunt died and i couldn’t function. unexcused 3: i suppose it’s when i told them i needed to get out of the house coz of a dv situation. i communicated with them everything that was going on. that i’m currently in a motel, trying to find a place and have no car coz he was withholding both vehicles from me. they messaged back saying how they’re glad i’m safe & all the bullshit pleasantries. fast forward to last night, i noticed i was off…

there’s a policy that after 3 callouts in a quarter, we get dropped as a contractor.. unless you get them covered by another, then it won’t count against you.

unexcused 1: i don’t even remember what it was for. whatever.

unexcused 2: i’m assuming was when my aunt died and i couldn’t function.

unexcused 3: i suppose it’s when i told them i needed to get out of the house coz of a dv situation.

i communicated with them everything that was going on. that i’m currently in a motel, trying to find a place and have no car coz he was withholding both vehicles from me.

they messaged back saying how they’re glad i’m safe & all the bullshit pleasantries.

fast forward to last night, i noticed i was off the group chat. so i texted them ‘am i fired?’
no response.
so then i text them earlier and said ‘i’m assuming i am. thanks for the heads up’

i got hit w the:

Hi there, Thea! I apologize for the delayed response.
However, due to the high number of call-outs during your first month with us, we regret to inform you that we cannot continue to contract with you and have
subsequently removed you from the schedule. We added this clause to our contract because last-minute call-outs can have a significant impact on the team working that day.
There have been a few times, where the admin team has to step in to cover your clean or we have had to rearrange a senior cleaner's schedule on short notice. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

to which i replied: thanks for the generic response.

wild how they treat their employees who know all the door codes and passwords to all the supply closets of every b&b they manage.

🤷‍️ idk. might rent out some b&bs and get into the supply closet and drink all their beers 🤷‍️ or maybe just go in and use the hot tub when it’s vacant 🤷‍️ who knows? 🤷‍️

seems to me like they fire you before you finish your inspection stage to avoid paying that extra $10/h

anyway..

EDIT: just wanna clarify that they said we ‘make our own hours’ and are ‘very flexible’
1099 employees are contractors. we’re contracted.
