I am a medical scribe and assistant. I tested positive for strep and covid last night, & I am starting antibiotics today.
I took a screenshot of my test results and sent it to my office manager and the doctor I work for, and the manager’s response was, “You can come back on Wednesday as long as you wear a mask.” My response was, “I will try but I’m assuming I will still have a fever, cough, etc. in 2 days. Am I still supposed to come if I am symptomatic?” The doctors response was, “Yes, just don’t take off your mask.”
I currently have a fever of 100.2°, can barely swallow, and have body aches. I don’t imagine I will feel better by tomorrow and will be calling off if that is the case. Fuck them for expecting me to bounce back from a strep + covid double whammy in 24 hours, and shame on them for suggesting I do so when they work in health care.
