I started my job Feb 2020 in a big office building in the CBD.
March 2020 we went in to lock down and I've only been in office provably about 5 days since then.
Since then I've moved three times, our interest rates and rent have climbed exponentially and I've been forces to move semi rural. But a 2 hour drive from the CBD.
This has been fine, but now the big wigs are enforcing a 2 day in office schedule minimum per week.
I've told them about my situation and due to cost of living and rent I cannot afford to spend 4 hours per day either driving or on trains just to go sit in an office and do the exact same work for no extra money.
We all communicate online, and even now some people are in office all the meetings remain online.
There truly is no point whatsoever for me to go in.
I have health reasons I can't stand on a train for 2 hours.
I'm broke despite working 9-5 so can't afford that much petrol.
Plus it's a huge chunk of time out of my day.
Just for what feels like some capitalist flexing.
They're still trying to force it even though I said I simply can't.
Do I have any options here? Or is it time to look elsewhere.
