Hey – If anyone can take their time and analyze my situation that would be great. I might be overreacting.
I work in a law firm as a paralegal. On Thursday, I found out that I passed bar exam on my first try in another state where I am working (due to my education).
When I found out I “gasped” and loudly say “oh my god I did it” and then went to my favourite attorney to tell her (my boss was observing everything). After that, he gave me $ and told me treat yourself big time and walk around the block – so I did – grabbed myself some coffee ($7 coffee and $3 tip). I came back, gave him back change and immediately asked me – where is the rest of my $? And I said I grabbed a coffee like you told me I can. So he called me in, went through prices and told me that I left $3 tip. He said that I disappointed him by spending his $ around without second thoughts – I was like lol, you told me I can and I’ll just give you back $10 so we are even.
Next, he told me he did not I’d pass and he wants me to continue being paralegal and not an attorney, and he wants me to be the best paralegal he had ever had. In the same breath he told me that if I ever leave it’d be the biggest regret of him to give me in the first place.
We talked about the material I used and I told him one of my friends gave me material to study because she withdrew, and he was like “oh, so you cheated?” Lol
After that, he pulled out my legal opinion and yelled at me cause I forgot one “the” and one “on” on the 12-page legal opinion, and told me who the Fuck I think I am to make him my secretary and correct stupid things on my behalf.
After I was on the edge of tears, he told me that’s it please leave. And don’t forget to be loyal to me – do not leave.
What is your thought on this situation?
