I used to love my job but working directly with the CEO changed everything

This is long, but I really need to vent. I work as an escape game roommaster, I had this job for almost 6 years. For 4 years I used to work there part-time during my studies and then filled out a position of a manager. When I was working there part-time I loved the job, was even putting my free time into it. The team was awesome and I really liked the managers. Before I started as a manager, I was so excited, thinking about all the things I could do, change and make better. But then I started to work directly with our CEO and everything changed. I remember his words on my first official day: “This is and will be primarily a business.

We’re here to make money, nothing else.” This sentence changed my whole outlook on the job. Of course, if you own a business, the main goal is to make profit. But to see that the owner didn’t have even the tiniest interest in his business other than money left a your left a sour taste in my mouth.

And where he thinks is the best way to save money? Employees, of course. We are required to work over time, to work weekends and public holidays. It’s not compensated in any way though. We do not get paid extra for this even though it’s legally required.

My main job was to take care of the team, training, hiring, social media management, digital things like working in WordPress on our website, creating promotional materials and so on. In his tries to save money where he could, he fired our Event Manager and I got to do all her responsibilities.

Do you think I got a raise? Of course not, it stayed the same like before. I went to the CEO and told him that the volume of my responsibilities doesn’t correspond with the amount I am being paid. So I was told several things which I need to do better and also I have to submit a report of what I did during the week (micromanaging much?) and based on those report he will decide if I deserve a 10% raise.

After this I was 100 % I don’t want to work there anymore. I work there for almost 6 years, am doing job of 2 people and it’s so hard for him to get me a raise? Nonetheless the raisehe proposed would only cover the inflation expenses as higher rent and more expensive groceries.

I still dob’t know what I would like to do next, I spent my whole college years and 2 years of my adult life in this job. But feeling not appreciated when I gave this job so much just hurts.
