I walked out of my job and told off my stupid boss and it felt so good

I’ve spoken on this platform before about my (now former) boss and how she spied on all her employees and attempted to write them up or fire them for “talking badly about her”. Well, there was a rumor floating around that she had gotten a stern talking to over that, and I had heard it from one of the other women in my dept. We and a bunch of other women from my dept were standing around having coffee in the break room when she said it and I responded “Hm I dont know she just went on vacation to see her sister, whatever.” And walked away. Later that day I got called into the boss’s office and met with a write up for “talking badly about boss’s name” because I engaged in speculation that she got in trouble for doing exactly what she was attempting to do to me.…

“Hm I dont know she just went on vacation to see her sister, whatever.” And walked away.
Later that day I got called into the boss’s office and met with a write up for “talking badly about boss’s name” because I engaged in speculation that she got in trouble for doing exactly what she was attempting to do to me.
She told me I had the floor to defend myself and I told her it was absolutely ridiculous that she’s acting this way and writing people up for “slander” and “talking badly about her” as well as listening in on workers private conversations during all her free time. She immediately cut me off and said she hasn’t done that in “like, a month” and that everything regarding the drama that she’d written people up for was “purely word of mouth”. I told her it was crazy that she was suspending and writing people up based on rumors without actually fact checking the situations. She responded by telling me that it was purely for workplace safety as we couldn’t afford to lose any more staff. I told her she’s gonna have to find more staff and refused to sign the paper before telling her “I fucking quit”.
I drove back to my old job about 15 minutes away and got my position back. I have since filed a formal complaint with the boss’s boss at my (now former) job and have spoken with HR.
