A co-worker verbally attacked me last week as soon as I arrived at work. I told the boss I would not tolerate it. After saying OK, the boss just kept working. I left the building. I was contacted by the VP hours later to explain what happened. This is my third documentation of his behavior, and nothing has resulted in any action. My instructions were to stay at home until they told me what was happening.
I left the building because I wanted to de-fuse the situation and did not want to get the other employees in the middle of it. I was told before, that when I am in a situation that I'm feeling that someone is being hostile, that I should walk away and remove myself before things could escalate.
I got a call five days later saying that they were terminating me because I abandoned my job. Now I'm out of work and the abuser is still there making life hell for the other employees. This sucks.
One of the reasons I was hired was to offer suggestions for improving the workflow. He said it was his way or the highway, I said OK, I'll stop and just follow your directions. However that was not enough. He kept coming verbally at me and would not stop.
