I was suspended w/o pay for something that I was then acquitted for

I don't know if “acquitted” is the right word but I was called into my manager's office and was told I was being suspended for 3 days without pay due to some “hostile” comment I had made. I received a write-up. I wasn't provided the opportunity to defend myself or give my side of the story but was asked to immediately leave the premises. I was terrified that I was going to be fired and didn't even understand what was happening, but resolved that when I returned I would just apologize and hope that things return to normal. I was terrified that I was going to be fired and didn't even understand what was happening, but resolved that when I returned I would just apologize and hope that things return to normal. On the day I returned to work, my boss came over to me and said that they looked into the matter and that I didn't have to worry about it and that their assumption was wrong and that everything was fine.

In spite of this, I still have the write-up on my record. I have also not been compensated for the 3 days that I was suspended without pay, and I'm worried that the existence of these write-ups in my employee file is going to be a hindrance in my employment. I'm angry but at the same time relieved but I feel like if they had done a little more due diligence, we could've avoided this misunderstanding altogether.

As it is, I still feel like I was basically punished for nothing and aside from some passive apology, no efforts were made to actually remedy the situation. I took a serious hit to my mental health and I feel like I can no longer trust this employer.

Has anyone experienced something like this?
