I went on a vacation road-trip for the first time in my working career, and I need more

For the first time in my working career, I went on a road trip for a two-day event at Las Vegas all by myself, and I feel like this was somewhat of an eye-opening experience. I have been severely depressed at work and it has contributed greatly to my performance. I have been working almost non-stop for maybe more than 2 years now.

I've had a couple of staycations, but after driving out maybe 4 hours out of my state, I feel like this vacation is more exceptional.

I got to see more places, separate myself from my work, not have to dread about Monday around the corner, and I got to do fun stuff without worrying about my job or my finances. Yes, I had to get a loan to afford the trip and the hotel room had shitty wifi, but still a breath of fresh air to my corporate routine.

I know that many of us working class cannot afford the luxury that I received, and I had to make some sacrifices in order to make it feasible. I am in the middle of transitioning out of my current job, because I have a micromanaging HR department, and the culture just isn't a great fit.

I have 2 more weeks before I go back to my crappy job, but I hope that before then I can find a job where I can be trained up and not deal with people that are criticizing your every decision.

Anyways, I hope one day we can either get rid of the 40-hour work week or make vacations more common.
