I used to work at Indeed.
I was part of their massive layoff in May.
I spoke directly with employers, part of my job was optimizing their job postings for more applications.
One section Id ALWAYS check, is if they had the salary listed. If not- thats the first thing Id tell them to fix.
In all my time working there – only ONE employer had a good reason for not including the salary, and that was because they were revamping their pay structure and giving raises, and wanted to wait till they had the correct amount to include it.
EVERYONE ELSE, their reasoning was either “We pay too low” or “We are paying our current employees less and don't want them to know”.
NEITHER is indicative of a postive work environment.
So I haven't been applying to roles without a salary listed.
Now mind you- always check the job description or their career page on their website. Sometimes the job site (Indeed or LinkedIn) doesn't register the salary or even pull it over at all.
Unless you have a referral at the company telling you on the side how much youd be making and/or about the environment youre working in, dont do it.
