I am hopefully getting an offer soon for an internal position. I am however, starting to get concerned about my background check. By the grace of God I managed to secure my employment after doing an FBI background check. I did pay a lawyer and got my record expunged after I accepted my job. I did the background check before it was expunged and when it came back my job never mentioned anything about it. I did have quite a few misdemeanors (dui, possession of drug abuse instrument, domestic battery, etc). I never had any felonies. I work in a sensitive position in the most regulated industry that requires fingerprint fbi background checks. I honestly don’t know how I even got my job with my background that came back prior to expungement. Now I am getting nervous that the hiring manager of this new role will see it. If they do see it should I tell them it has been expunged? My lawyer said I don’t have to tell anyone that I ever had a record but the issue is that it was ran before it was officially expunged. Should I just say that it is not an accurate report and to rerun the background check? Do you think they will even look at the background check since it is internal?
