If I’m being my best on job interviews and I don’t get the job, should I just be my worst and see if I’d get it?

This is a serious question by the way and by “worst” I don’t mean showing up shirtless and drunk. As someone with 5 years of experience in the financial industry, I have had a dozen interviews this year with hiring managers after easily passing initial calls with hr reps, but I have yet to move to “next steps” let alone get an offer and it’s not like I’m bad at these interviews. Most of the time those hiring managers are looking for an absolutely perfect candidate. For example, when they learn I have 3 years of experience using a specific software instead of 4, I’m immediately disqualified. Why would they interview me for a whole hour then? Why don’t they ask the questions for their ideal candidate early on and end the interview when the answers don’t meet their expectations? Why do I have to act so professional and answer…

For example, when they learn I have 3 years of experience using a specific software instead of 4, I’m immediately disqualified. Why would they interview me for a whole hour then? Why don’t they ask the questions for their ideal candidate early on and end the interview when the answers don’t meet their expectations? Why do I have to act so professional and answer questions in extensive detail?

I guess I’ll just start giving short answers from now on and show them how fed up I am with this whole hiring process even if it means I’m definitely not getting the job, because guess what? I’m still definitely not getting the job.
