I heard this on NPR this morning, and I was appalled at this “people don't want to work anymore” argument.
For context, this news story is largely about expanding Medicaid to people who make too much to qualify for Medicaid but who are still too poor afford quality health insurance. So expanding Medicaid would provide health insurance mostly to people who already work low-wage jobs. They're already working… and even if they weren't working, why is health care in the U.S. a privilege and not a right?
