I'm 30(m), work in a good position as a mechanical designer at a small company designing automated equipment. I've gotten 10-15% raises every 9 months or so as I developed my role here and overall I think I do a fair job for the company although I”m no over-performer.
I got the opportunity to take a motorcycle on a 6 week cross-country tour and quite frankly, I want to live a little. The plan is to leave in August so we've got a few months yet before that comes around.
three weeks ago, I approached the CEO and asked what he thinks, who I would have to train up to cover me while I was gone, how he'd like to manage my remaining sick time and vacation time… well I don't know what I expected but he said I would “Have to quit or be fired” to take 6 weeks off. I am about to call his bluff. I'll update y'all on what he says. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
