Pretty much it. I work in manufacturing, we make generators. I build the control panels for them. My group manager (bosses boss) has a goal to build and ship, I think, 3~k generators by the end of the year.
We've managed around 1700 so far. But recent supplier issues has put us behind. He wants to hit his goal. I asked a team lead what happens if we don't. I was told pretty much nothing. But what'll happen if he does? He gets a pat on the back, recognition for doing so well and making the company money and, of course, a nice fat bonus.
Me? Little old me will get tons of OT and all but live at work. Selling my soul just so he can get his bonus
Did I mention this guy wants us to hit 'our' number so badly that he tells people “quantity over quality”? My company blasts and prides itself on the *quality* of our work. The only thing he hasn't done is put posters up this or say in text. Cuz if he did then other GMs, the ones over quality, would step in.
