I work at a Planet Fitness doing graves. Initially I was part-time for $11 but our night guy got enlisted so I saw an opportunity to get a raise and more hours while also being able to study during the night because it’s typically slow and gym goers are chill as fuck. I didn’t get my raise for 3 weeks which pissed me off but I really like my manager and didn’t wanna make shit harder for him by quitting.
A week ago I saw a job listing one city over, for the same company, same position, same hours. Posted at $16 to start. That location is 5 minutes south of this one and under a different franchise.
Here’s the issue…. That location is currently closed for maintenance. And we’re taking ALL of their customers for the time being. I’m making 4 dollars less while tending to the customers of a gym that makes more while also having our own customers complaining about how busy it is now. I wont even mention the leak in the break room that has made it inaccessible for a month now that the owner refuses to fix (oopsie, guess I did!)
