Backstory is I have interviewed over a dozen times over the past 6 months. I am entirely convinced it is a game about picking the best and most effective liar.
Question: What makes you want to work for this company?
Truth: I need to pay rent and my car payment and figure out how to also save money. I don't care if you make eggs or design carbon capture elements.
Lie: You guys are SO great about XX and YY and it would be SUCH an honor for me to work for you.
Question: What is your biggest weakness?
Truth: Trying to hide my political opinions from every single coworker in fear of making both sides hate me.
Lie: I'm REALLY self efficient and like to work on my own but I work hard on being a team player when it counts.
Question: What is your 5 year plan?
Truth: Start my own venture, be my own boss, and NEVER hire an HR department. At a BARE minimum, not working for your sorry ass after 2 years in hopes for better pay.
Lie: I really just want to be the BEST I can be at my position and I will go in the company wherever it leads me.
Notice a pattern? Am I wrong here? This strategy got me 3 offers I all declined for various reasons.
