I’m currently an assistant manager at my job, right underneath the General manager- a position I’ve held for about a year now. Roughly 2 months ago the GM informed our owner he was going to be resigning, and I was offered the position after his departure. Of course I accepted as it was a significant pay raise and would look great on a resume after I leave university. Now my concern stems from the fact I have taken over all of his responsibilities in preparation of him leaving, being told it would make the transition smoother- something I understood and agreed with in the beginning. I was told I still had to wait till he left for the raise, and since I expected it to only be 2 weeks I didn’t have any concerns. However as I mentioned it is going on 3 months now that I have been handling his role along with my own while he sits back and, not exaggerating, does absolutely nothing. I am beginning to get very frustrated over this considering he is making the money that I should be while handling the business, and all he is doing is a basic workers position, half the time not even that. I am beginning to feel taken advantage of since anytime I bring it up it is always, just a little more time or have patience in response. Idk am I being irrational? Is this a normal proceeding when it comes to replacements?
