A lot of people have been saying that companies aren’t actually hiring – that they’re posting roles w/o any intention of actually filling them. As someone who works in mostly behind-the-scenes HR, I thought I’d share my two cents.
I have worked in HR for a decade (in many different companies) and have never heard of anyone posting a fake job. I’ll admit, I haven’t worked in recruitment specifically but have been involved in the hiring process. I genuinely have not seen what people are alleging. That’s not to say I didn’t see loads of other shady shit – I did. Just not that.
Well, not after today. If anyone is actually hiring, I’d be shocked. We’re being gaslit, not just by the companies, but by those currently in power.
I applied for job after being laid off. Same title as my last job, but lower pay and hybrid as opposed to fully remote. I met or exceeded EVERY SINGLE qualification listed in the JD.
Well… it’s now 77 days later and I just got a voicemail informing me that my “background isn’t the right fit for [their] needs.” No feedback.
This is after 77 days of communication with them.
This is after 5 interviews with 4 people.
This is after completing a 6-page assignment.
This is after two other companies have pulled the same shit this year.
