I work in IT and the amount of immediate terminations we get for account access is astonishing. Employers want you to submit 2+ weeks to resign but they’ll fire you immediately without you knowing but let you work until end of day until your access has been cut off.
We are told for the immediate terminations not to tell anyone including the employee who is getting terminated and for us to just disable the network access. We had a termination for an executive assistant who we engaged a lot with and we couldn’t disclose to her she was being fired. She didn’t know until the day she got to work and she couldn’t log into her computer. Very rarely do we get the 2 week resignations as most terminations at my company are done by upper management and it’s marked as confidential for us not to disclose it to the employee. The only reason I see all of this is because I’m involved in the termination process. I was close to one employee and I did tell her as soon as I found out so she could find other employment in time.
Protect yourselves and make friends in different places because you never know who might be watching out for you.
