Im not engaged at any of my jobs current nor previous.
Currently, I juggle 2 jobs: 1 full-time and 1 part-time. Obviously, I need to save money in the bank and invest in retirement. It’s not unusual for me to work from 7A – 11P many weekdays because of that.
Whenever I report to work, I feel disengaged. Im disinterested in work topics, networking, meetings, trainings, certifications, etc…
It’s not just because of phones and computers. It’s like, I’m not really interested in working, I’m just doing it so I can save money, invest in retirement and afford bare necessities. My daughter and I live with my parents, because cost of living and childcare are astronomical in my area .
I feel abnormal because I’m not genuinely interested in moving up the career ladder, leadership, fancy conferences or status.
But it seems like everyone in my age group is so mature doing adult stuff-moving out, starting families,fueling their passion, moving up, etc…
I don’t have a strong purpose, like I’m just existing and one day I will drop dead due to old age or overwork.
Does anyone else feel like an “imposter”? Like they are being fake workers?
