My job has really been burning me out lately. My boss isn't the worst boss I've had. However, he is confusing as fuck, talks in circles and doesn't respect me.
So this morning I get in and instantly told by my boss that he needs me to stay for paid overtime to get some extra project done.
I don't in general mind being a team player but we are short staffed this week. So I asked, can you take anything off my plate? This is basically an office job but I'm reviewing documentation that is important and I'm signing off with my name. This isn't something to half assed.
He said no and basically just do more.
I've been applying for new jobs and even looking into changing fields. I saw on LinkedIn where I can say I'm “Open to Work” to everyone. I currently have that so recruiters can see but it hasn't brought me a lot of luck. I am connected to people at my current job.
Tl;dr
Is it a dumb idea to change my LinkedIn setting to show everyone, including people I currently work with, that I'm looking for a new job? Is there anything else I can do to either get more eyes on my profile and/or is there something petty I can do against my work to stick it to them?
