Is it legal for my employer to force me to take PTO on a day they are closed?

More context here as my employer is a regional bank in MN. On October 9th they will be closed in observance of a federal holiday. They do not close for every federal holiday, just the major ones (July 4th, memorial, labor, Christmas, thanksgiving, new years). On October 9th, while they are closed, the company pseudo-forces everyone to volunteer in the community. I say pseudo because if we choose not to volunteer we must use PTO on that day even though the entire company is closed and no one is working for the federal holiday. Is that legal? If not what laws or statutes could I cite to not have to take the PTO? Seems crazy to me that the entire company is closed and if we don’t volunteer (it’s all for optics and social media posts on this specific day) we have to take PTO. And yes I do real…

And yes I do real volunteer work on my own time. I just hate the idea of volunteering with video cameras everywhere.
