Is there a specific term for when your supervisor uses verbal direction to proceed with a task in a way that is incompliant per company policy, state, and/or federal law to avoid accountability/liability or is it just called “gaslighting”?

Also is “vicarious liability” an accurate term to describe this? Or does this only apply when there is a physical injury? Any feedback or resources will be greatly appreciated.
