It saddens me when my coworkers are forced to work such unreasonable hours. Even though I put in 6-8 hours of work, there are times when I can only take home 50 dollars, which is not even 10 dollars an hour. It's frustrating, especially considering that my own rent is a whopping $1,750. Many of my colleagues are older and struggling to make ends meet.
Then there's my manager, who does the same workload as I do but is compelled to work 60/70/80 grueling hours. She can barely manage to pick up her daughter from school and cover her rent too. On top of this, we've been assigned new tasks like picking up cigarette butts from the ground outside and sweeping the roads, I don't mind except when I get more work and no increase in pay.
I've noticed that places like Starbucks have successfully unionized, and there have been numerous strikes in various industries all over the US. Is there a possibility that a place like Domino's could also unionize, or should I consider leaving my current job and joining a union elsewhere?
I also heard Biden may have signed a new law that helps with forming unions, I may be wrong about that though. Has anyone heard of it?
