Is there any reason to not cross the picket line and then immediately go on strike?

Could I potentially hurt the strikes by basically pretending to be a scab to waste companies' time? If I actually got the job, I'd just immediately go on strike and not ACTUALLY cross the picket line, but is there a way that could backfire and hurt the strike? (E.g. by applying, that could make the company feel like they have options/more leverage than they really do– is that more harm than good?)
