I work in medical in Australia, 6 months ago I was offered to take on the team leader role to 20 staff along with my role as a medical secretary.
In those 6 months I have been busting my arse doing two roles (working 20hrs+ overtime a fortnight, working weekends etc) as I was told, by the end of the year they would phase me out if being a medical secretary to a full time TL/HR role.
I have just received my variation agreement after my 6 month review, a review where I was told how all the staff are so happy I'm in the TL role and how well I'm doing. The words “your performance/salary review will happen in June 2023, how ever there is no guarantee that this role will change to HR/TL as it will depend on business requirements.” hit me in the guts.
I'm sure it's probably legal, but… Why tf would I kill myself for another 6 months with no guarantee of the role or the growth I was promised?
I very much want to respond, but I'm unsure how to word it in a way that won't put me in hot water. But gets my point of “if this is what you want, I'll step back and we can go back to having a high staff turn over because management is useless and they need someone they can trust” across
Thanks for any help you can give me, I appreciate it.
