Is it odd that my employer made a PowerPoint presentation to us at most recent staff meeting about how much we cost him.
He had detailed items like:
– toilet paper
– use of internet
– rent for office spaces
– utilities for property
– insurance for workers
It was so detailed down to the cent- about how much we cost him vs. how much “business” we bring in.
Women had higher toilet paper costs btw because he took into account menstruation…
Let’s also mention he makes particular effort to call people out in meetings who have been off sick leave or holidays and complain to them about how his revenue has dropped due to their absences.
One particular time was when he came to work covid + and made 7 staff sick.
Then complained how expensive it was to have us on sick leave and could we not work from home somehow… we should be more careful etc etc.
I’ve always thought his motives for revealing this information were purely because he wants to make it clear to every employee that there is no room for raises or progression in the company.
I constantly feel gaslighted because none of the other employees seem phased by this behaviour. Not sure if it’s because of pure fear or just complacency.
Also note I’m leaving at end of year.
