I made a post this morning about part of this, however I believe I know why this is happening, so I figure I post with a new question and full story
So I worked, until last friday, as a Public Adjuster out of Colorado, though they call it a Supplement Estimator, at a small business for 17 dollars an hour, none of us have PA licences, so what we are doing could in theory get either us or our company sued. However, as we are all young people who have discovered that engineering degrees don't even guarantee you a position at walmart, we have stayed working there for a while. However, we had gotten tired of working for so little considering that a genine PA of 5-6 years experience can earn 70-100k. On top of this, they had started to hire people with less experience and no education for up to 25 an hour, doing exactly what we are doing now, despite having worked there for two years.
We had enough, and I organised us all and got every employee (8 of us) in a meeting with the owners, and I told them if they dont raise EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US to 25 an hour, four of us would be quitting the next week, and some others as soon as they had a different job. The next week came, and they told us we dont deserve more pay, and informed us we would instead get a 3-4% annual raise raise in December(and maybe a 2% raise anually on top of that if we work hard enough). We walked out of the office and did not come back.
Now this morning, I got a text from management saying I had stole a bunch of computer hardware, and a legal text from the office, and that they had “video proof of this” on their cameras (which the boss's wife watches several hours a day to make sure we are working). They also claimed that I had commited time theft, because I was “having personal conversations with coworkers without clocking out”. They had said they are going to send the video footage of the supposed hardware and book theft and time theft to the police and file a report.
Is this retaliation for organising everyone, and would it be worth it financially to take any action? my coworkers think so, but I am not sure. The business was MCCS National, for those who are interested. You'll see them on indeed, but don't trust the bastards.
