It’s clear why you can’t keep employees. But you don’t see it

I started a new job. The higher up people all seemed great. I was happy to be there. They kept making remarks Like “we can’t seem to keep anyone, don’t understand why, this is a great place to work” I’m thinking yeah this all seems great. Then I went on my 1st day alone. I had an issue with an essential function- called in about the issue and was told “figure it out, that’s your job” Oh… ok? I already tried but I’ll keep trying, I’ll call you back. Couldn’t figure it out (as I’m not a mechanic) called him back and this dude on the other side of the phone is sighing at me like I’m an idiot for knowing nothing about a machine I’ve literally never worked on… he didn’t even offer any diagnostic of any sorts or things to check for outside of what I had already…

I’m thinking yeah this all seems great.

Then I went on my 1st day alone. I had an issue with an essential function- called in about the issue and was told

“figure it out, that’s your job”

Oh… ok? I already tried but I’ll keep trying, I’ll call you back.

Couldn’t figure it out (as I’m not a mechanic) called him back

and this dude on the other side of the phone is sighing at me like I’m an idiot for knowing nothing about a machine I’ve literally never worked on… he didn’t even offer any diagnostic of any sorts or things to check for outside of what I had already tried.

I’m like dude you come figure it out then I wasn’t trained on this, I’ve never used this before. This was my FIRST day.

Come to find out these thing’s constantly break down and you have to diagnose them all the time, wasn’t covered in training.

2nd day-

I can’t clock myself in so I told the manager, they said they got it.

Hour goes by I get a call

“why didn’t you clock in?”

I’m unable to, the manager said they did

“ok, well they must have forgot, I’ll clock you in now you should get the message“

Wait 20 minutes, no message.

Call the number back, explain to someone else what’s going on, get transferred to ANOTHER manager

“What happened? Why didn’t you clock in? You have to clock in!”

I literally can’t, they need to do it.

“You have to remind them!”

I did, they said they did when I got here… then I was told 20 minutes ago I was clocked in by someone else. I’m confused as well.

“I’m clocking you in now, I don’t want this to be a common issue“

Are you fucking serious? I could see if it had been a thing that kept reoccurring but it’s my 2nd day officially on and legitimately out of my control.

THEN

HR messaged me later in the day asking me what my preferred schedule was,
I gave them my preferred schedule and got a reply back

“Wait but we agreed on these days and these hours, I don’t need anyone during (my preferred schedule) times ”

you asked my PREFERRED schedule. I already agreed to your days and hours, why are you asking me then?

Idk everything came across extremely rude. if I had someone showing up on time, still learning, I’d be way more understanding. it was just a crazy experience, I’ve never been new somewhere and treated like that. Like if I was there a year I’d understand but damn.

Anyways, had to throw in the towel if that’s the experience after only a couple days, was already dreading going back told them
I’m out bro ️
