It’s time to go.

Hi! I have been in a toxic work environment for the past TWENTY years! I’m 40 years old and finally just can’t take it anymore. I work in a retail/healthcare setting with a “close-knit” (ie: we all low key hate each other but we share deep bonds of mental trauma this job brings) group of people and honestly I have a very nice boss but he doesn’t do anything about the issues that make this job a living hell (examples being lazy coworkers) and I am the one who has to do the majority of the work. So I’m just here to get some insight on giving my “two weeks notice” (I typed up a months notice so I won’t be the asshole (even tho I will be seen as one)) so they can get their schedule in order and possibly hire someone in that time. No one wants to do this job so they have a terrible time hiring people.

I don’t know how my boss is going to react to this notice and I hate to cause him trouble but like the title says it’s time to go. Thoughts? Any advice how I can hold my ground once I tell him? There’s nothing he can offer me to make me stay.

Thanks for your time!
