The whole “no one wants to work” thing has been really bothering me since people started using it as an excuse not to hire anyone. I couldn't figure out why they would do that. Then after reading the “ghost job listing” article, something hit me:
Those people who have been saying that “no one wants to work” are PPP fraudsters who inflated the number of employees they had to get more money. However, as time goes on they may have to validate their claim with the IRS. If they say “this person worked for us and now they don't and we are losing money because we can't find a replacement” may justify their PPP loan as well as their “predicament”. They create a job listing and either set pay exceptionally low so no one will take the position or just don't respond at all. This also works for people who never had a business nor place of employment, then falsely created a bullshit/non-existent company with non-existent employees. They can place job listings just to pretend that they are legit and hiring without hiring anyone, and keep the money.
“No one wants to work” is the same as “We don't want to hire anyone”. I think the companies who create these listings need to get their listings epically and biblically flooded with resumes from Donald Duck.
