Job hopping in hospitality works great

Just putting this out there. Not sure if this fits the sub, so I’m sorry if it doesn’t. Anyway. I hate working and I get really frustrated at jobs really fast. I have a very low tolerance for being treated poorly, so I quit my jobs a LOT. The longest I’ve ever held a job was only for a year. However, I work in hospitality and job hopping works really well to increase my wages. Plus, there’s a high turnover rate at most places anyway so I feel managers aren’t very judgmental. In 2022 I worked at 4 different places (though two I was working at during the same time period because they were part time). Technically I took a pay cut for the last job but I couldn’t stand management at the second job and I needed the experience for my resume. I knew I could get paid more…

I knew I could get paid more at other jobs due to knowing other people in the industry who were making more than me. I just kept chasing higher paying jobs to get closer to my goal which was 60k/year gross.

This year, I quit the job I ended 2022 with and got a new job. This is the highest I’ve ever been paid and it’s pretty cushy, as far as service-oriented hospitality goes.

The job I had starting in 2022 was my first job in the specific hospitality industry I’m working in. I was getting 38k a year gross (if I had stayed a year lol). My new job pays closer to 60k a year and I know there are other places that pay even more, but I’m gonna stick with this one as long as I can because it’s easy and I’m happy. I made it to my goal and I’m really proud of myself, I knew it was possible.

I suppose this doesn’t work for all industries, but it sure does for guest-facing hospitality, in my experience.

Also, I will note that I did work at one well known luxury hotel in like 2019 (I worked as a food runner in the restaurant so nothing crazy) and I think that name on my resume helped me get a lot of my interviews.
