I’m an 18 year old living in America, and due to my inability to get a diagnosis of a disability, I cannot get social security, so I am back to job hunting. All I can do is data entry, and most jobs are entry level, but almost HALF of all data entry job listings require at least a year of experience. Fine. But then, I’ve come to realize that about 1/3 of all entry level positions don’t have working application links. Legitimately, so many lead to broken pages.
I finally found a job, submitted my application, and got an automated email telling me to sign up for a survey taking site (fine) and message them back. But the email is a no-reply email, and only gives automated responses. I’m still not sure if they’ve taken my resume or not.
So far, to just SUBMIT MY RESUME, these jobs have required me to make accounts on various websites, submit a photo of myself, and take a personality assessment. I know that one is not too uncommon, but how is that legal?? Some questions I get, but the personality assessment I was given was just a bit too personal and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. If I get desperate enough, I’ll finish it, but I’m not quite there yet.
I know job hunting takes time, but after hours and hours of searching I haven’t even managed to submit my resume once.
But nooo, it’s us teenagers who don’t want to work, we’re just too lazy. 🫠
If anyone has any tips or any similar experiences, I’d love to hear. I worked only one job previously, so all things considered, I’m pretty inexperienced in job hunting.
