Job indicated they’d put me on performance if I didn’t follow hybrid work schedule.

Pretty much as the title says. RTO 3 days a week mandated about a year ago but manager and team work on different office. I went in periodically but never 3 days a week. A year later, it’s been identified through a badge report and pretty much told to go in or be put in performance. I do plan on going in at this time and then searching for a remote job. Out of curiosity, if I didn’t go in and was put on performance, what would be the next steps? Show up or get fired? Theoretically how long can someone be put on performance for not going in til they get let go.
