I was on LinkedIn and started applying to a bunch of random jobs. One of them was for a “Junior Editor” position at a random company, with no profile pic. Didn’t think much of it but I get an email yesterday saying they want to conduct an interview and to reach out to the HR member via Skype. I reach out and we schedule an interview for today. As I was ready to get on my laptop for my interview, I realized the interview is being done through the Skype messanger, not a video call, which I thought was weird. So this interview takes places basically via text and something seems off. The responses seem automated and the person interviewing me didn’t directly respond to some of my questions or statements. This goes on for about an hour and she said she would forward my interview responses to the hiring team. 30 mins goes by and “congrats you got the job!”
They also said it is completely remote, they didn’t even negotiate my asking salary, and said they would “set up my at home work station” for free and send me a check to go buy all the equipment. Has to be a scam right??? But when I look up the woman who was interviewing me, she is a real person that works for that company . Is someone impersonating her? What’s going on here
