as the title says.this is criminal. partner has been on the hunt since dec 2022 for an opportunity to start a career. the state had a rehabilitation therapist position open, and he has a music education degree – a degree that was listed as desirable.
after two months of god knows what, they proudly offer him 17/hr. i know state jobs have budgets, but if he took this position, he would be paying the daycare to work because the price for two kids a month is more than what he would make.
the best part – we are stuck in that lovely “too rich for assistance, too poor to thrive” position.
seriously though – what the fuck is the point of it all? how do you negotiate wage without straight up saying “you aren't paying me enough to fucking survive”.
just needed to rant. i dont know what options are left. we can't go another 8 months of no job offers.
