Jobless and beginning to lose hope

So, I resigned from my last job in September because I had a surgery scheduled in November that requires a 6-8 week recovery time and they told me I couldn’t take more than 3 weeks in a row. I had a good amount of money saved, and I planned on looking for a new job while I was recovering from surgery. Currently, I’m 4 weeks post-op, and I really started cracking down on the job search at around 2 weeks. I majored in film, and my dream is to be able to work as a video editor for a reputable company with pay that won’t leave me just barely scraping by.

But I also know that it’s a very competitive field, so I’ve been applying for tons of other jobs, too. I’d say I’ve applied to more than a hundred jobs at this point, and I often try to go the extra mile by writing a cover letter in addition to the questions/skill tests that some of them require.

I haven’t heard back from a single one. I’ve tried a bunch of different job boards, reworked my portfolio, looked for freelance gigs, and I’ve just gotten nothing. When I searched for jobs in the past, I would usually hear back from a good portion of them, often in a timely manner. So, as my savings dwindles, I’m beginning to get desperate.

Is this happening to anyone else? I know I could work at a Denny’s or something, but the whole reason why they don’t have enough staff is because people are getting fed up with working shitty minimum wage jobs. Plus, it would just be a huge step down in my career and I’d feel like a high school kid again. Only I have bills. And minimum wage isn’t gonna cut it. I’m at a loss.
