I worked at a care home. I worked for just less than 6 months.”Crying out for staff” they scream. I told them I was autistic at the interview (I was still waiting for the diagnosis, got it now) A few days ago, I was set up for a bad situation which I wasn't trained for, constantly asked for help and backup, I didn't get any. The boss' husband, who was meant to be doing what I'd been asked to cover, just kept telling me its easy and I can figure it out on my own.
Anyway, the inevitable happened, something went wrong (everyone was fine in the end) and I got fired. More accurately, I failed my probation and ended my contract. I explained the situation to a friend and colleague and she said it sounds like they set me up. She said that she saw how management have been side eying me for the last couple weeks and how they speak to me like I'm a child. She's telling me to go forward with a discrimination case because of what they said in the interview of dismissal. They listed off my autistic symptoms, the light sensitivity, the noise sensitivity, the need for people to repeat things, (all things that I'VE taken steps to fix, they refused any reasonable accommodation recommendations) and said its not fair on ME to keep me in employment there. They acted like they were doing me a favour…
My friend wants me to pursue a lawsuit but I'm scared to because they were typing the whole time and they lied on my dismissal letter, idk what else they're lying about on paper. Also, my dad says it'll be too much stress for me and bringing it up again will just cause more stress, anxiety, depression, meltdowns, ect.
I know this place is biased, but also really knowledgeable about these things. I'm 21F and from England if that helps. Any advice would be great.
